Bente — colour-changing knitwear, knitted in our own mill.
Bente is a knitwear maker in Dongguan, China. We knit in our own mill - the same lines that make knitwear for other labels. This site is our own brand: the place where we put the ideas and the yarns we like, on our own terms.
Where it is made
Our mill sits in Dongguan, the knitwear belt of southern China. Yarn comes in, knitting, linking, washing and packing happen under one roof. That is the difference between us and most colour-changing clothing on the market, which is bought in and printed on.
What we do
We make heat-reactive knitwear: knits where the thermochromic pigment sits inside the yarn, so the colour change is part of the fabric. The switch point is tunable, the transition is gradual rather than a hard jump, and the yarn is specified for repeated washing.

Yarn-level colour change
The thermochromic pigment sits inside the yarn, so the colour change is part of the knit - not a layer that peels or cracks.
Gradual, not a hard switch
Cheaper pieces jump colour at a threshold. Ours transitions gradually across the temperature range, so the effect looks intentional.
Made in our own mill
We knit in our own factory in Dongguan, which means we control the yarn spec, the gauge and the wash testing - not a trading company reselling someone else's stock.
